Welcome, I'm Matt and thank you for visiting MHTherapies

I understand it can be hard to take that first step to start counselling, and find a therapist whom you will feel comfortable to talk through what is troubling you. As a registered member of the BACP (Accredited), I am an Integrative Therapist helping clients aged 18+. I offer a safe, calm, confidential and non-judgemental space for you.

Perhaps you know what it is that you need support with, or to change? Or are you feeling unsettled but not sure why? We will work together to help you to gain insight, understanding, and to try to find a way forward.

Alongside talking therapy, my approach includes Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as Tapping which we can integrate into your sessions, if it feels right for you. Increasing research shows the efficacy of this for helping with anxiety, stress, depression and other difficult emotions or feelings we can experience. As a practitioner, I have introduced this to many clients as well as using the techniques myself.

As a Humanistic Counsellor, it is my belief that we all have the power and the resources within us to make the changes that are needed, but it is not always possible to tap into those on our own.

Counselling is time for you, to have support with what you are finding difficult, and to explore what changes you can make. I will be alongside you, and work with you, to help you find your way forward.

Building a strong therapeutic relationship is a key factor, along with it being the right time for you to start counselling. If I am not best placed to support you, I will try to direct you to someone else who may be more suitable.

This is your time, to use as you need to and as we work together, we can focus on what is happening for you, to bring awareness of issues, more clarity, self discovery, understanding, and perhaps what changes you need to make.

It is not for me to diagnose, or give you the answers you need, but to be alongside you; to help you to explore your feelings, thoughts and emotions, understand what’s happening and to empower and support you to find the answers.

Integrative approach

My approach integrates different models of therapy including Person Centred Therapy, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and Mindfulness. I am a trauma informed Therapist, EFT /Tapping practitioner, trained in support for gambling addictions and Polyvagel Theory (understanding and regulating the nervous system).

Sessions & fees

Sessions last for 60 minutes, and are priced at £60 per session, with payment required prior to each session. All sessions are held online using Zoom.

I offer an initial 20 minute free, no obligation phone call to talk through what brings you to seek therapy, and for us to see if we are a good fit to work together.

You can use the automated calendar function to book this in with me.

If you we feel we can work together at this point, we will put our agreement in place to meet for your sessions at a set time each week. I offer both short term and longer term therapy.
